How does visiting home care work?

The first step is to organise a visit from a member of our local support team, to meet you and your family in their own home. This visit is free of charge and allows us to make sure that everyone is happy with introducing visiting home care.

Working closely with you, we will create a personalised plan that meets your loved one’s specific needs. A visit also helps us to identify the Health Care Assistants that will be best suited to the role.

We understand the importance of continuity, and depending on requirements, there may be two or three Health Care Assistants who will visit on a rota basis. We stipulate at least 30 minutes for each visit, so our Health Care Assistants are not compromised by time restrictions. We have the ability to carry out a number of different activities, whether a trip to the shops or helping with hoovering followed by a cup of tea and a chat.

We help with whatever is needed at that time and activities may be:

  • Help with getting up in the morning

  • Preparing Meals

  • Help with dressing and personal care, such as showering

  • Incontinence Care

  • Light household duties such as laundry, ironing and cleaning

  • Help with a trip to the shops

  • Making your home secure

  • Help with getting ready for bed

Our care plans are flexible and responsive, regularly reviewed and updated to ensure we always provide a high quality service. The visiting support service can be paused for holidays and topped up when additional hours are needed.

COMPANIONSHIP HOME CARE

Companionship

Social isolation is a growing concern nationwide, and, for many families living far away from loved ones, it can be very difficult to help an older parent or a family member living on their own.

A health condition or increasingly limited mobility can increase isolation, or maybe there just aren’t as many friends around as there once were.

Loneliness can have a significant impact on health and wellbeing, which in turn can delay recovery from illness and injury.

Companionship home care can provide a friendly face whenever needed and help people to take back control of their lives, re-enabling their involvement in social events and activities.

Companionship Home Care

THE BENEFITS OF USING US

A friendly face on hand 7 days a week, someone to chat with at anytime

Opportunities to share experiences and reduce isolation

Companionship to help reduce loneliness

How we can help

The first step is to arrange a visit from a member of our local support team, to meet you and your family member in their own home. This visit is free of charge and allows us to learn more about your family member, their hobbies, their interests, and what they would like from a companion. Ultimately, they will choose their own companion from the shortlist we put forward, matching individual needs with the right personality for them.

Our companions are friendly, “experienced in life” and chosen for their social skills. It is important that they are sensitive to social cues and able to build good relationships.

We find that, even if there is a little resistance initially, our companions are soon a welcome part of everyday life, from having a coffee and chat to going shopping or learning a new hobby.

END OF LIFE CARE

End of Life Care

If your parent or loved one has been told that they may not get better then end of life care, also known as palliative care, provides treatment and manages pain and other physical symptoms resulting from a terminal and/or complex illness while they near the end of their life.

With a complex and terminal illness, symptoms may need to be controlled and managed where possible. We offer end of life service at home to offer the full spectrum of medical, practical, and emotional support required during this time. We are usually asked to become involved at an early stage to help with medication and practical help, sometimes also helping with getting out and about while health still permits this.

Because we bring the professional support and care to your loved one’s home, there is no need to be worried about whether they will be able to die at home, which is often what people would prefer.
